Lighting and Sound: Practices in Creativity
Lighting and Sound: Practices in Creativity is a graduate level course originally designed by Professor Alan Burret and Dr. Shahrokh Yadegari at the University of California San Diego. It was updated by Steven Leffue in 2018 to reflect a more contemporary view of performance practice and the unique perspectives/experiences of the members of the class. The focus of this class was to provide students from the directing, stage management, and design areas. space to collaboratively practice creativity using the medium of sound and lights. Lectures on form, color, and sound are supplemented with weekly projects which synthesize various artistic approaches to creativity. These projects included, but were not limited to, immersive performance, installation, binaural soundscapes, color montage, poetry, maximalism, modernism, post-modernism, noise, and synthesis.
